Today the DPRK (North Korea) soccer team arrival at Sydney Airport for the Asia Cup was welcomed by a lively group of supporters despite their arrival being during normal work hours.
Those participating in the solidarity demonstration were supporters of the Australia-DPRK Friendship Society (including among others supporters of Trotskyist platform and of the Communist Party of Australia) and supporters of the Korean Compatriots Association of Australia.
Although this was technically a support rally for a sports team it was in effect a statement of solidarity with the DPRK workers state - especially at a time when there is a massive counterrevolutionary propaganda campaign against North Korea.
The capitalist politicians and media seek to demonise everything about the DPRK including its soccer team. They seek to portray the DPRK and its sports teams as isolated and without support. That is why today's action was so effective. The many people at the airport waiting to greet friends and relatives were surprised and curious to see a sizeable and multiracial group of people supporting the North Korean team. Lots of these people took photos of the action on their mobile phones.
This undercuts filthy lying media coverage like this one in the Sydney Morning Herald about the arrival of the DPRK team: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/afc-asian-cup/north-korea-shrouded-in-secrecy-upon-arrival-in-sydney-for-the-asian-cup-20150106-12it68.html
The idiot reporter did not even show up at the airport and if he did he probably would not have reported on the solidarity crowd supporting the team's arrival anyway because it so undercuts the narrative that the capitalist media want to portray. And as for the claim that the team's arrival was shrouded in secrecy, this is undercut by a factual report that the DPRK team had opened their training session to the public!
